If you’ve ever felt like something is holding you back—that something might be wrong with you because you don’t get the same results other people do—you are not alone.
And while I don’t know your unique situation, there are common themes that lead to that feeling.
For example, feeling stuck or broken can happen as the result of a coping mechanism, personality aspect, habit, or skill that you developed to get through a tough situation. It was the right approach at the time, but now it’s getting in your way. Ice cream might soothe your soul in a crisis, but it’s not a long-term fix for the growth and integration you need to live a happy, fulfilling life.
We have all found ways to navigate this crazy world. Mine was creating a comfortable box. As long as I stayed within my controlled comfort zone, I was okay. This safe environment was once necessary to my survival, and I don’t regret it. I am grateful for the box.
After taking on so much responsibility as a child who lost their parent at a young age, it was the only way I could feel safe. I also thought it was necessary to stop myself from feeling. With everything I’d lost, feeling was much too painful.
The problem with putting myself in a box and refusing to feel anything is that the sides of a box aren’t expandable. When I tried to grow and explore spirituality, I bumped against the invisible walls of my box. And just like all other feelings, I ignored the sensation.
Eventually, I thought that something must be wrong with me because I couldn’t grow despite trying an entire host of things.
When my youngest child left for college and my animal companion of 14 years transitioned in the same month, my feelings fought for attention. Despite that, I still clung to my box. The very thing that once protected me became a deep, dark prison. The darkness was going to eat me alive if I didn’t do something.
It was time for my box to go.
I started finding my truth, excavating my heart, and learning how to feel again. Looking back, I realize that I had to find my own way, that we all do. However, we don’t have to do it alone.
If you feel like you’re stuck, not making the kind of progress other people do with the same or less effort that you’re giving, and you’re ready to feel connected, at peace, happy, and fulfilled, I’d like to help you.
We’ll find your limiting box (or boxes), show you how to free yourself, and allow you to know your true self. As you connect to your life and world—living as a walking meditation and finding the answers you need—life becomes truly miraculous!
